I’ve got lots of titles. “Mommy” is the most important one to me, and when I first began blogging several years ago, in another time and place in my life, I was trying very hard to figure out how to be “Mommy,” and “Youth Minister.” I gave up that fight, or at least called a truce, and set about trying to figure out who I was past the titles. They never truly define us anyway.
What I’ve discovered is this: I’m a whole lot of things. And the sum total I am now of all these things is not what it once was…nor is it, I hope, what it will one day be. Because life changes. And so do we. And if we’re very, very lucky, our best years are never quite behind us, because the possibility always exists for something new and beautiful.
I’m also a writer.
Mostly, I write my way through life. About lots of things and for lots of reasons. These days, and in this corner of the blogosphere, I’m after room to keep growing, to keep exploring, to keep becoming. Along the way you’ll probably hear some stories about my little girl. And you’ll probably hear me talk about church-y things now and again. And sometimes I get a little riled about what I perceive to be injustice and hate in the world. Occasionally, and completely for creative fun, I write a short story, so you might find a few of those sprinkled here and there.
First and foremost, though, I just want to pay attention–to things big and little–because I believe, at the end of the day, the little things DO matter.
And here’s why–those little things often point us to the big stuff, the stuff that’s worth living and dying for.
Oh, and why Someone Stole My Coffee? Here’s why.
Julie I am so happy for you and curly girl! What a wonderful addition to your family. Know you will love him and he will you.
